Description:

In 2016, statistics showed that 54.5 percent of the world's population lived in cities and a further rise expected to occur and more resources consumed over the years. With such a rapidly growing importance of cities, innovative methods to solve daily problems are constantly being developed in hopes of improving the standard of living of cities' inhabitants. This rising importance of cities brings about the topic of rebuilding new ones and efficiently managing their services that are inclusive of water, electricity, transportation systems and more. Only then does a proper management of infrastructural investments and economic growth become possible. Other means of improving cities encompass urban planning, strategic planning, economic planning, architectural development, environmental sustainability, design, smart building and more. Only through a discussion of existing issues and potential solutions will the world be able to reach smart city development. Accordingly, essential is a deep understanding and awareness of the advances made in cities around the globe to allow for an integration of those practices in other cities. As a way of enabling flexibility when coming up with solutions to identified issues as well as transmitting the gained knowledge back to the cities where individuals live and around the globe, IEREK is happy to invite you to attend what could be considered a meeting point of professionals, academics, and researchers as a way to making cities smarter and more sustainable.
