The system of zakat, waqf and Islamic philanthropy around the world is growing rapidly. These systems have been accepted as an instrument for economic development and tool to achieve social equity in Malaysia specifically and the world in general. The potential of these systems are undeniable; hence it should be explored and maximized in line with the growth of the Islamic economic and financial system. Therefore, the Institut Kajian Zakat Malaysia (IKaZ), Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia was called upon to organize the 5th International Conference on Zakat, Waqf and Islamic Philanthropy (ZAWFI) 2022 to realize the aspiration including the empowerment of its potential hibah and contemporary Islamic philanthropy. This ZAWFI 2022 is the fifth series after the success of 1st ZAWFI 2017 (at ACIS, UiTM) and 2nd ZAWFI 2018 (at Hotel Bluewave, Shah Alam), 3rd ZAWFI (at Page Shah Alam, Intekma Resort and Convention Centre) and 4th ZAWFI (online).
