Description:
he applications of nuclear physics today cover a very wide range of topics and fields as nuclear reactor physics, nuclear fusion, nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear-geophysics, and nuclear medicine. In the field of Nuclear Medicine, both diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures have transformed by nuclear physics techniques and the use of radioisotopes Two main classes are covered by use in medicine of radioisotopes and nuclear techniques: a. imaging and diagnosing structures in the body and their functioning b. Treating diseases In particular, Targeted Radionuclide Therapy (TRT) has received in recent years a strong impulse, as a result of close collaboration between different professionals, in particular, nuclear physicians and medical physicists. This close and continuous collaboration has led to the design and clinical use of new important radionuclides for therapeutic use such as the 177 Lutetium, Samarium 153 as beta emitters and more recently the radium-223 and other alpha-particles emitters. But the greatest innovation has been and continues to be the choice of useful therapeutic dose. In a few years, it has moved from the concept of the administered dose of radionuclide to that of the dose received from the tissue to be treated up to that of the effective absorbed dose. This is the result of dosimetry studies in radionuclide therapy which allowed to increase the effective dose to the tumor (or its metastases), without a significant increase of the absorbed dose by the surrounding healthy tissues and bone marrow. Therefore, as Plenary Speaker for the Conference for Day 1 and Program Chair, it is my intention to organize talks and workshops about nuclear therapeutic procedures, dosimetry studies, and patient safety management. We sincerely hope that ICANP-2019 serves as an international platform for meeting researchers from around the world, widen professional contact and create new opportunities, including establishing new collaborations. We are looking forward to seeing you at ICANP-2019 in Rome, Italy. Young Researchers Opportunity: We make sure to support and motivate 'Young Researchers' by: Establishing their academic and professional relationships. Improving their morale and confidence of presenting research in an international platform. Interacting with expertise in their respective departments. Clearing your inhibitions of adjusting to the foreign environment. Providing a holistic experience of academic tourism.Deadline for abstracts/proposals : 28th August 2018
