The scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery(OMFS) is large nowadays. The OMFS surgeons treats patients from new born to the elderly people. The new born children are due to congential deformities which includes cleft lip or palatte. The OMFS surgeons are trained in all the areas of speciality so that they can work as general specialists too. Some of the subspeciality with oral and maxillofacial surgery are head and neck cancer, cleft lip and palate surgery, oral medicine, dentoalveolar surgery, trauma, aesthetic facial surgery, facial skin surgery including removing facial cancers and tumours.
