Industry 4.0 has taken the manufacturing world by storm, with some major companies investing billions into building smart or digital factories to better production. Smart factories could add $500 billion – $1.5 trillion to the global economy within the next 4-5 years alone. With the increase of consumer demand for more personalized products, and the rise of digital tools that can be implemented, manufacturers have the potential to do more with their collected data than ever before, as well as streamline production for increased quality and output. It has become an “adapt or die” atmosphere within the sector, with product engineers, factory directors, and operations managers feeling the most pressure. Data management has always been a major problem for manufacturers, with as much as 80% of data collected never being utilized in the worst cases. Not being able to manage data appropriately and driving decisions based on that information, has many manufacturers eager to invest in updating their systems and processes to more autonomous systems to increase better production, but this also leaves much concern over how to integrate new technologies in the most efficient way. Factory automation is the current industrial revolution, and has become the need-to-discuss topic of many conferences. So TBM is doing what we do best, providing a closed-door space for real challenges and potential solutions to be discussed among like-minded peers from the same sector of manufacturing of heavy machinery and heavy vehicles.
